So one place I have applied to is big on team engagement exercises. I just want to go to work do my job and go home. I want to be friendly but keep personal stuff out of work. I don't want to know anything personal about them
Sounds a bit more like being nosey and gossiping. Team building is one thing but meddling and knowing my business is another thing. I'm the only guy in my office and I am stand offish to all of the girls. I've seen and heard the cat fights, seen girls dismissed right on the work floor and watched the argument with the boss over what happened on Thursday night at the Hawks basketball game. I stay to myself and I am not going to be a team gossip member. I support your decision and efforts to stay out of the crap.
There is no blessing and curse here. The office busy body will throw your ass under the bus when it comes right down to it Barbara. I don't want to know who sleeps with who. How the shopping was on Saturday or if she got weave in her hair. My focus is who has that patient. Is the doctor behind and tell the lady that her health insurance company doesn't pay for that. Office gossip leads to a bad end result.
