Hvac Service Technician at Hvac

Three weeks ago I got release from prison. They kept telling us how the reentry process worked but it is still hard to find a job as a felon. I'm working hard to be productive. It's overwhelming. It turns out to activate my professional license, I'll need 7 years in order to get hired. I talked to the agency but the wait has been too long. I feel like my past skills has gone down to drain now that my license has been suspended. Where should I be looking now? Any licensing that won't look at my background?

I can say this....it doesn't matter your qualifications to do a job....I'm a convicted Felon whom still has voting rights....however, why vote someone in an office, I can't get a job cleaning at....if I can vote you in that office I should be able to get a job....but I cant..almost 10 years now...and still can not gain financial security because Noone wants to hire me.

No expungement in New York I know that 100% to get an expungement is close to impossible.

@Zachary Thomas, I encourage you to investigate what it would take to get an expungement. Consult with your PO.

Also, if you can't get your license reinstated for 7 yrs there are still positions you can pursue in the HVAC business. Check the "Find a job" section under your navigation bar here on Jobcase. In addition, Indeed.com, Ziprecruiter.com & Glassdoor.com all have "Fair Chance" categories for felon friendly jobs. You may find a job with a suitable income while trying to figure out your professional license issue. HVAC techs are in high demand nationwide & you may decide to take a position that does not require a professional license in that same profession.

Also consider seeking other jobs that would be a good match for your current skillset.

Consider an entry level job in manufacturing or construction, or an Apprenticeship or team Member with a local BO in your Community. Also check into local workforce training programs to help with re-entry in your current field or offer training towards new career and licensing path i.e. electrical, mechanical, or other. Many Community colleges and WIN Job Centers provide such programs free, paid stipend during training, and job placement services.

Lets look outside the box. New World, New Tactics. Contact your hometown work source and register your current address. There are jobs for Ex Felons, but you have to play the game, and maybe donate yourself to jump threw a few hoops, but actions pay it forward to get your community behind you. You know that it takes a while to a community to warm up to an Ex Felon, especially in today's world. In your time, did you ever have any conversations with the Chaplain? They do have connections. May God Bless...
