I can understand if your boss couldn't hold your job for you. She may need someone there every day. However, to be mean to you was uncalled for. I know this is hard, but think of it as a blessing in disguise. What if you had another illness or family emergency? Do you really want to work for someone who is so mean? Get well, then look for another job. I wish you the best.

I work in health care IT. These are the conditions we work under and these are just the highlights: 1) 90+ hour weeks, 2) screamed at during post cancer surgery, during chemo, and heart issue, 3) forced to work while in the ICU, 4) expected to work while delivering a baby, 5) texted during own wedding and needed to work, 6) could not fully participate in family funeral because coverage was needed for coworker that died, and 7) the coup de gras: out of a team of 4, 2 are dead. Working sick or suboptimal is nothing for us. I get that nobody wants to get sick. Many, many people intend to do their very best on the job and I see that here. The world is no longer about intention, its about results. I get its disheartening to find a job, work a few days, and then not work a job. Some people can and want to work in my field and some dont. Its about fit. I don't think the best way is to spend 1/3 of a day in a job with a bad fit. Time is better spent finding the right fit. Right now there is a lot of opportunity out there so I hope this inspires finding the right fit.

Wow, Your boss is really mean. I cannot believe she didn't offer you any assistance, or help or days off, because you had to walk to work. What we know here at Jobcase is that you did a awesome job, even when injured! And that no boss should treat anyone that way! I had a boss who was out right mean. I worked at a magazine company as a writer. And I would have to report to the editor. The editor was so evil to me. Telling me everyday that I wasn't perfect, like her! So I told my Boss, and she said she would look into it. A day later I got fired, and my boss was on the editors side, stating all I did was wrong in the most sarcastic way. And since I wasn't employed no longer, my boss decided not to pay my salary, and said that she only pays when the person is hired on site. It was a complete scam. I even had to contact the F.B.I. for Fraud. Bosses can be real evil!

I think it's illegal to fire someone for an injury, even if you've only been on the job for a few days. I would report this company to the BBB, and look for employment with a company that will hopefully treat you more fairly.
