Just wondering

I applied at this hospital 31 times and have not gotten one of the position that i applied for. I know I am qualified for everyone of them i put in for maybe over qualified. but what really frustrate me the most they do not even have the courtesy to let me know why I was not chosen for the job. I even went to there job fair and I was told I had the qualification they was looking for and someone would be calling me and I still have not heard nothing. I went to there HR all they told me was the position I put in for was filled but the other one i put in for was still open. gave me the number of the director to call her I call her three days in a row she never called me back. What kind of courtesy is that. Just asking.

THIS IS COMMON TODAY- We have never actually recovered fully from the 2008 recession. Very few of the young adults are having children, buying homes , or finding the "American Dream ". I graduated from college in the 70's and had several job offers!! Not anymore!!! Most young adults are still either with their parents or married and living frugally. Reminds me of Great Britain in the 60's. This has a domino effect- fewer homes are being constructed-fewer home goods- The Malls are dying; sales are down in the Big Box stores- more merchandise is purchased online- we have entered a new era- It is up to the NEXT GENERATION to adapt!!

I know how that is. I applied at my local hospital at least a dozen times after I quit volunteering, which I did for two years. All they offered me was more volunteer work. Thx KRMC

Here is what I've learned they put out a statewide hiring platform because they have to. Even though they selected someone in there company for the position open. They are required to advertise the open position. Then when you get positive feed back you get this stupid letter saying although your credentials were great. We have decided to go a different direction. And what they mean with out saying it is your to old we want a younger employee. .

Is this the only hospital/health care facility in town? 31 times seems abite excessive. What about state agencies? Or private healthcare facilities?

I think that I would give up on applying to this hospital at this point. If you're in the health field, there are plenty of opportunities out there. Keep looking & don't give up.

Sarah, Have you had someone review your resume? Does your resume match the job qualifications of the healthcare sector? If not perhaps you can have one of the more experienced people assist you in redoing it here at JobCase. They can even format it for you. Remember to tailor your resume to the position being offered. Many times there are keywords that are picked up by algorithm and that is how many employers choose to select applicants. There are plenty of other jobs in the healthcare field so I would not put my eggs all in one basket. You sound as though you are very well qualified for the health care field. I would flood the market with a well-written resume that reflects and highlights your skills and abilities. In addition, I would rewrite my cover letter that will stand out against other applicants that may be applying for jobs. Thirdly I would follow-up with a thank you note or e-mail stating something that you remembered during the interview to make you stand out and be counted. TYJ
