I was wrongfully terminated however I fought so I settled to take Discontinue retirement. They will not change my reference then I would not qualify for the Discontinue retirement. I am an excellent employee, I know that but this reference is painting a bad picture. I have not been terminated before and now have this in my employment history. I need a job.

You don't have to use them as a reference. Prospective employers only need to call them to confirm the dates of your employment. If you have other references, use them.

Why do you need to use them as a reference? A new employer can call the former-company's HR department to verify dates of employment, but you should be able to use anyone you'd like as a reference.
