I have been out of work since June 1st. At this point, I'm applying for multiple jobs every day. Everyone is saying that employers are desperate to fill positions, but the experience I have is I submit applications with my resume on job boards and after 2 to 3 weeks the employers aren't even checking the resumes that are coming in. Then you get a random email saying the position has been closed. #employers #laidoff

Thank you Samantha for validating the situation. It sure is difficult. I’m in the Department of Labor and Training course called Platform to Employment and it’s going great. It is helpful information. Have you checked into that? They also try to place you in a job. They have many contacts to work with.
I wish you the best. I’m here to support if ever you need to talk. Lori

I don't know if people are quitting their jobs just to get unemployment, some are looking for higher paying jobs like myself. I've been promised more and when I jumped and left my previous employer the new employer changed his mind. What can I do, sue my new employer? Yes there are jobs but most of them want to pay the bare minimum.

I will give you a 110% everyday.

You're telling the truth. They don't want to pay neither. And it's temporary. They don't get back with you. It's a lot of scammers out there too.

Supervisor Labor at City Of Chicago

I realize that moving to a new place would be hard. I live in Chicago and if you don’t listen to the bad news about Chicago and if you look at a map there are a lot of place to live here. I have to admit that the job market here is great. People here don’t have jobs because they aren’t looking. Try your resume at:Cityofcjicago. Org

Samantha - you are giving these hiring employers way to much credit for being efficient, professional, organized and proactive. They don’t care if that posting is up on the website job board for 6 months. Hint: They just don’t care. They don’t care about you. You are not special. They know that for their success - they must never have an opinion or disagree with their superiors .And you expect them to advise you in a letter, email or post card someone else got the job and you lost? No way.
Good luck.

After a 24 year career with IBM, I was laid off 10-01-19. I have been job searching since then with a hand full of interviews and NO RESPONSES! It is hard as heck and you get to the point where you want to throw your hands up... which I can't do because I live by myself. Good Luck!

It seems these job sites are not keeping the post current. They claim to have positions, but when you inquire further, there are no available positions.

Job boards are to passive. Any chance you could visit the business and ask to see the manager. Introduce yourself and shake his hand. Tell him/her you would like to work there and hand them your resume and store specific application. Tell them I know you are busy so I won’t take up anymore of your time. It was nice meeting you and I hope you will consider me for a position here. Stores and restaurants are closing early because they have no staff. I don’t think people do that anymore.
