I am to the point of breaking. I have been looking for 5 months and living off my savings but that is running out. I have applied to a ton of places either I don't hear anything or I hear that I am qualified but they are going in a different direction. It's not like I have applied for just one type of job. I have a good work record and meet the qualifications for everything I apply for. I have had 3 interviews in all this time. One was a scam job, one couldn't tell me exactly what I would be doing but paid only commission and the 3rd had me working 50-60 hours 6 days a week and I would make less then 20k a year as well as use my own car and pay for any travel they had for me.I have management qualifications security 2 degrees computer back ground. I feel like I am at a breaking point. I have a 10 year old daughter to support and if seems like there is nothing for me.

Hi Richard, don't give up u will find a job, I found a job in 11 months I went through an agency, it took me a while I never gave up, your day will come I hope u find something soon. Did u try any agencies? When I look on my own I couldn't get a job, agencies r looking for people. Good luck.

Sorry to hear you, but good things are waiting. keep trying to be the successful person.

I am in the same boat...very frustrating. I wish a I could offer some advice.

I've been there. My permanent job ended Oct. 2010. Working temp job few and far between. Try signing up with every agency you can think of, even temp. I'm going to send you a message.

Employers are considering candidates quite, often; have you filled out application, or checked the newspaper, or even emailed, faxed, commutation is key.

Alot of temp services has been helpful for many people especially with the type of qualifications you have.

Richard, try Goodwill Job Connection. It's free and they can help you update your resume and give you job leads. You can also take "Prove-it" tests and update your computer skills via gcflearnfree.org. Since you have 2 degrees, contact your college and talk to their career center. They might also be able to help you. Finally, try temp agencies in your area and keep calling them twice a week and bugging them. I wish you the best!

I have a job I hate. I'm looking and I'm applying but after I apply, when they call I ignore them - like oh I dont really want to travel that far or -;eh not sure I would like it. I'm being so picky but I want a lifer job. I hate the process, I hate change.

I've been looking for quite some time too. I decided I'd get something, anything . . . So I called our local baker and asked if I could help him out. I had a coffee/donut shop a few years back so he said - when do you want to come in to talk? I said, "I'll be right there - 30 minutes. I started the next day. Granted, I only work a couple hrs 6 days a week but it allows me to look elsewhere while having fun at work and helps financially too. Every little bit helps!
