I interviewed with the same company four times. On the third interview I was told they need to create a job description and an offer letter for me. Went to the fourth interview and met the whole team. Hadn’t heard anything so naturally I followed up. Was told yesterday they hired someone else after one interview. Needless to say I was shocked since until last Friday, I was the only one who applied for the job. What’s wrong with companies these days? Could it be that I’m 59?
Karen; I believe this Company interviewing u 4 times, does not sound very professional. Keep on plugging away, and I wish u the best! Gayle Myers

Quite likely or they are assuming you want more money.

Really it's a matter of how many hoops you are willing to jump through. I am working now, but I NEVER go for more than 2 interviews, and it takes them asking nicely to get the second interview.
Recently I had a really good rapport with the hiring manager of another company, but he was my second interview. When their HR called and asked me for a 3rd interview, plus to prepare a little demo, of all things, I simply ignored them. HR called and emailed back for weeks, but I never answered.
You may say that's self defeating, but over the years I have learned if they keep making you re-interview, time and again, that's because they are still hunting for someone else, and your chances decrease with more interviews. I have had the best luck with companies that just hire me from the resume, without all the games.
Also if you go back, again and again, to interview a the same company pretty soon, psychologically, you are putting all your eggs in 1 basket, when you should be continuing to look at other companies.
Notice the person who DID get the job, while they were stringing you along, only had 1 interview.

I am 54 and have had the same issue..... four hours at one interview session.. After a phone interview with recruiter and another phone interview with VP of Opeerations, I went in and spent 4 hours with another VP, aPlant Manager, a panel of 6 supervisors and back to VP from phone interview and temp HR Director.. I walked out of it all feeling great..... still waiting for a response.....
