Depends on the industry. Specialized executive position are out there. Food, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and health related research.

So sorry to hear about this! I decided to leave my job almost two years ago and retire. I was gracefully forced out so it was time. I am lucky I get a monthly pension for life. I did go back to work seven months after I retired but was gracefully told to leave after seven months. Oh well I have been re-retired now for eight months but would still entertain working again for awhile. I have lots of experience that would be beneficial to some company out there.

John unfortunately this is the manner in which job sites operate. They will advertise a job you are interested in. They then tell you to hit the link and when you proceed to do so the job on the link does not at all compare to the job first advertised. You need to look for professional sites that handle elite jobs , state jobs or go to a professional recruiter that does not charge a fee. If that does not work jot down some companies that are well known and just start cold calling. The job search is very difficult these days and if you do not invest the time or patience you simply will not be hired. Also you may want to make certain that your resume it update with a killer cover letter.

Graphic Designer

I got dropped out of Graphic Design in 2008 due to the recession. I worked part time jobs for 10 years and kept applying to every graphic job I could find. I am on my 2nd week of a Graphic Art job with full benefits and paid holidays. Keep fighting. It will come.

Yep, the millennials don't give a toss & they abhor people with knowledge & experience as it makes them look bad. I'm finding the job market EXTREMELY Difficult! I've got decades of international business experience & I can't get a reply. Have been told my resume isn't "blue skies & it doesn't tell (them) a story." How childish. That is their mentality?! You are not alone, the ignored & forgotten.

Hi John! I like this because you have options, you can call your own shots! But if you want get an executive job you have to redo your resume' and list your qualifications that you have. If you ever worked or ran an office then you are there, if not then you can take a refresher course that will teach all about positions in that field. I suggest "Keyboarding and Administration"! Because of my experiences in "Administrative" I was able to test out of it, but it's nothing but a six (6) weeks course and you will learn numerous of things regarding office management. Most of our phones today has those examples and I suggest that you search "executive positions" and it will lead you to what you are searching for. Good Luck! But I know that you will do well!

Hi John, I think you should reach out to an headhunter. Don't waste your time with the mechanisms. You need to actually meet recruiters face to face. It's like the difference between getting a suit off the rack or getting one tailor made. If you talk to someone face to face you can talk about minute details of your experience rather than be under the influence of search engines which won't take into account the important aspects of your experience.Yes, the websites like Monster, indeed, and career-builder seem to a quick fix but yet the position you seek is possibly more involved than the old McDonalds's gig. I wish you the very best and good luck in your future! Troy Lawson

An expert recruiter in your industry is a start. And you can create an updated resume and cover letter on flash drive and upload it to sites like expert err.com, ladders.com, MRI.com, tiptopjob.com, execunet.com, ceridian, apex, jobserve.com, etc. Also, look in the backs of industry magazines for job listings at the library or buy the mag's from Barnes and Noble. Also, use your existing contacts or connections to put the word out you're looking. Are you wanting to make a lateral move? Age-ism is real in the workplace. But experience matters--make sure you put your unique qualifications and contributions, eg: managing, or streamlining processes, or whatever. Good luck. Remember searching for a full-time job which will sustain yourself and family is a full-time job. You may also be able to get a D.b.a. (doing business as...) and consult online, opening a PayPal account.

Not knowing your qualifications looking for an exec position is hard mostly because thier pay or bonuses increased greatly after the new tax bill you need to focus on smaller llcs and this isn't the future
