April Jobs report a bust -- Why?

April's jobs numbers for non-farm payroll were woefully under economists' expectations and unemployment rate ticked up a bit. Not just that but March's numbers were revised down. Experts are saying, "We’ve known for some time now that there are tensions or mismatches between the demand for workers and a large number of job openings and the large number of unemployed individuals," Mark Hamrick, senior economic analyst at Bankrate, said. "Many employers report struggling to find available workers. Supply constraints are also limiting further improvement in output."

With the economy opening, jobs in major supply, why are the jobs not being filled in your opinion?

What idiot would go to work when they can receive free stimulus checks by staying home? The stay-at-home time should have been spent enhancing online education for when this crisis is over, to get a better paying job. Of course there are circumstances where the parent had to stay home as day cares we’re not operating, no in school available and to cate for sick family members. As long as the government is giving away money, why work?

I draw SS and went back to work part time to be around people. Yea there's a lot of jobs out there. Under 20 hrs. a week and no benefits. I don't see how people make on this with out other income.

Well, the only thing I can say is that I can imagine it is hard for workers to work if they have alot of family obligations or if they are infected with the coronavirus (Covid-19).
