I was laid off in 4/2020 due to C-19. I have been applying on almost every employment site with no luck. I have a lot of experience in the commercial and industrial HVAC industry, traveled the world as factory technical representative, and operated mechanical contracting business in a 50/50 partnership. Unfortunately, I cannot run service any longer due to physical restrictions, but my knowledge and work ethic(leadership skills) are my greatest assets. Employers are commenting on how impressive my resume is but they chose another candidate. This is the most common reply from employers. Not sure if my age, pay/benefit requirements, qualifications, or they are really not hiring? ππΊπΈ #jobsearch #career #fulltime#benefits #discrimination #age #pay #benefits #compensation #leadership

Yes its funny everyone is hiring but no one is hiring it's crazy been out of work since May got laid off and have applied at over 20 plus jobs , clerical office work ,but no one calls.

I have the same problem I got lay off 10/42020 I been their 22years because of the c_19

It looks like I'm having the same problem as you! 30 years of experience in the Oil and Gas Industry, a college degree, tons of supervisory experience, expert in title abstracting, type 70 wpm,....and can't get a job. Wow! But will consider anything at this point.

I've had the same problem. I have extensive experience in HR but have several Zoom interviews, but nothing.. I think they figure age is a concern, I can not make myself younger.. I have applied to lower positions and they won't hire he because they figure I am overqualified....I keep on trying...Any feedback will be appreciated.

Have you thought of trying consulting? I'm in the same boat. As a marketing executive, I have 20 years experience and a proven track record of success, like you. So I've dabbled in consulting and it's a win-win. The company gets a great marketing guy without paying a big salary and benefits. 5 good consulting gigs can be a nice salary. The challenge is finding those five clients. And, you don't have the steady check and benefits from a full time permanent position.

Age discrimination does exist. Try a locally owned construction company they may need your expertise and could hire you as a subcontractor. If they donβt need you they may be able to help you with any recommendations of anyone in the field who would. Best of luck to you

They probably hired a younger person for less pay. A lot of companies hire a less experienced person that they can mold into something they desire within the company whereas when you have all this experience and work they way you've always worked, though you may have good work ethics some companies prefer to hire someone a bit younger who they can train and expect for them to stay on the long term opposed to another who may not be staying that long because they would be retiring soon. They will never admit it though. Anyone who says age is not a factor, I would tend to say that it is.

Check out to see what kind of Temporary Job sites are in your area and hit them up for a job... Some of these places let you work in the places you are talking about and you can get paid like you did before every two weeks or every day after you work through them for a while and the other company likes your work you might just land a Job.. Been there done that one and was doing great until I got tried of the New Boss CALLING ME OUT OF MY NAME( he was jealous cause my Husband would work with me a lot on the Job sites I went to

Where are you located?
God has some great things in store for us soon. Be patient, keep the faith, and we will overcome and conquer this current situation brought on by C-19. I wish you the best Brenda! God bless! ππΊπΈ
