I hope more people can review what you wrote. First, sorry to hear what happened to you. Second, yes, look for a new position. Third, you may not receive your payment. If where you live has a labor board, report it to them, but even they are limited in recovery and if they do help you to get it, it won't be overnight. I am an "old hat" and a lot of what I am reading employers are pulling now to employees was running ramped in the 1980s. It was my generation that fought in the 90s to 2000s for employee change protections, family leave, etc. If what you are saying is correct, the employer is telling "We don't want sick people, show up to work every day or else." Well that's gonna be tough as we are coming out of a pandemic - but employers won't care. They need hands and/or bodies in seats - granted work is not a charity and they are paying you to do the job, and expect you to be there, so see that point as well. But the idea is -- YOU as an employee must think about when working for an employer is if, at any time you get sick, will they knock you out of the chair and put someone else there until they get sick, making you feel like a piece of meant instead of nurturing you as a valuable part of their business. For me, that's all we want to strive for - to help them too. Ask yourself, do you want to be in a company like that, around management like that? Remember this in going on to your next venture, and the best of luck in your next one.
