Sometimes we get unsolicited feedback about our career, especially during the holiday seasons š . I cannot tell you how many times I've been told by my relatives to focus on the jobs that make more money but has nothing to do with my personal interests or strengths hahaha.
The most important thing is to focus on ourselves and not get distracted by these noises. Remember to focus on what serves you and eliminate whatever doesn't! On the other hand, be more considerate when you're giving others advice too!
What advice did you find unhelpful and you were glad that you totally ignored š?
- š¤ There's only one way to success (w/ specific job choice or work pattern)
- š® You need to tough it up and stop complaining
- šÆ You must have done something wrong to be treated that way at work

There is someone who always said something that shouldn't have said.

Yes I ve had those anoying comments..

Yep lol...

I think the advice that I've gotten that seems unhelpful today is that I need a college degree in order to succeed. I did however obtain a college degree and realize my answer may seem taboo, but I almost wish I would have saved the money I used towards college and started my career earlier. A college degree has never been necessary in any of the jobs I've held. Employers are more concerned with your real life experiences and how that can benefit their company by bringing you on board.

Great question! For me, these situations range from hilarious to annoying. One of my biggest peeves is when someone recommends work in a very specific field that obviously doesn't suit me! Hall of famers include:
⢠Have you ever considered joining the Navy?
⢠You should get a realtor's license and be your own boss!
⢠Various pyramid/Ponzi schemes.
⢠Crypto, bro.
