Hi everyone. I just started an apprenticeship program and I am so grateful. I love everything about it except for one thing. My boss is AWFUL at explaining things. I need some advice!
When I ask questions he seems annoyed and doesn't explain it in a different way, just repeats what he said originally.
This apprenticeship is supposed to prepare me for a successful career as an electrician but I'm not learning anything.
Thoughts on how to handle this? I don't wanna waste this opportunity!!

Are there other co-workers you can ask? Does your company have a LMC library for training, or is it something you can teach yourself through Youtube videos or manuals?

Tell us about what you enjoy about it and then maybe we can figure out your learning style. Maybe there's still a way forward with your current boss/instructor.

try visual, look and learn

Pose your questions a certain way instead of how do I..? Say How would You do..? Or is this a good way to do..? Or tell him how you would solve the problem and ask his opinion on your solution..I was going to run these wires...etc.. is that how you'd do it?.. hope this helps.

Is this pitty or petty of boss?

Tell him how you feel, get it out before it's to late

If you are not learning anything from your boss, I don't know if it's even possible for you, but see if you can get another person to mentor you. If that's not possible, I would check out videos on YouTube for guidance. I would also join groups on Facebook for electricians & seek guidance from members of those groups.

Try to communicate with them

Try to seek answers to your questions on youtube, and the internet is a great resource as well. Try joining an electrician group on facebook and/or become a member of an electrician group..you can google them online as well. You can even search for another company online that is offering on the job training for electricians. Hope this helps. Good Luck!!
