Should on line applications ask for your Social Security number?
I don't think that any on-line application should ask for your Social Security number. I don't feel safe doing that. I lost out on a job because I would not put it on the on-line application.
I'm in agreement with the other commenters. I actually had a "recruiter" argue with me via email because I would not supply my social using email. I'd prefer not to compromise my identity over a shady practice.
I agree too; but, just recently SHIPT online application asked for my SSN before hiring me for the position. Then I get a notification that I did not get the job, but you have all of my info. ??????
It's a shame that you had to miss out on a job but you shouldn't have to compromise your id security.
I usually only give the last 4 #s. If the company doesn't understand that then they don't deserve you.
I just write in 1 thru 7 I will not give maybes number unless I am hired
Online apps should not request SS# and recently on radio i heard consumer advocate Clark Howard say that it's not even safe for patients to provide SS# to USA hospitals!
It's illegal. When that happens contact the employment agency. But they do. When will the government start charging these company's for breaking the law? We're fighting a losing battle, no honesty no where
Good luck. Cause I'm not having any.
It is not against the law!!! In fact, it is encouraged so they can confirm the applicant is legally eligible for employment and verify legal status stateside. The gov't has a site to verify social security and residence for such.
They also want to check yoyr credit score i wouldnt put it
I agree with Patricia, most do not request it on the net.
I agree. I would rather loose out on a job. Than spend a life time repairing what a scammer does with me information.
