Last year a company purchased the company i work for. 17 years with the old company. The new company let go all employees over 50 years. They provided us with a severance packgage and we had to sign a document stating we would not persue a law suit. The more i think about this is the more i think they violate the age discrimation law. I am 58 years old and have been sending out resume with no call or feedback. Is this legal for them to discrimate older people and can i still sue?

Good question. I know ageism is illegal but I'm not sure if it's a protected group or not. If ever there were a blatant case of ageism this would be it. Unfortunately you signed a contract indicating you waive your rights in this matter. I suggest getting legal advice
