Assitant Store Manager at Tjx Companies

I am in a mid life crisis. I am currently a retail merchandise manager, formerly the General Manager of Sonic Drive In. I am 26 years old and I think I want to go back to school, I genuinely no longer want to manage others but would like to make the same salary as my intro and the opportunity for growth! I am currently around 58K+. Help! What do I go to school for and how do I manage my time to do so. I will also be putting myself in debt with school loans. What should I do?

I can't say for fire whether it's your thing or not, but the STEM sciences-Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics- are the wave of the future.

The important thing is not what job pays what, the important thing is to find what you enjoy doing.

I make a fraction of what I used to make, but I never feel like 'damn, I gotta go to work'. I truly wake up every morning looking forward to going to work, and do what I love to do.

Hi, I hope all is well with you, first take a deep breathe it is never as bad as we think. I think going back to school is great although you are in a bit of debt, speak to your loan providers and let them know you financial situation and see what alternative payment plans are available to you. Sometimes you can go under a temporary forbearance which allows you time to not pay anything at all. You can also do a income driven repayment plan, which considers all your expenses when setting payments. Once you finish school and get back on your feet you can make the personal decisions to increase your payment amounts on youtr outstanding loans. Now, in terms on time to go to school have you looked into online programs? There are some very legitimate schools that do offer them and at affordable rates. Lastly, sit down and really have a game plan, really know what you want to do and make all you actions align with what you are trying to do. I hope the best for you.

It's never too late to go back to school, my recommendation would be to work full-time and go part-time to school in the evenings/weekends. I did it for 5-7 years.

My question for you is do you have a degree of any type? If not, what is your interest? Just to let you know it is never too late to return to school. The debt you will have all of your life unless you become rich over night.

I agree with Brandy's post. I am a teacher who went into debt to get a master's degree, thinking it would provide more opportunities, but it has not. A degree in business, though, as Brandy posted, is a smart master's to have because it opens a lot of doors in a broad array of companies.

You’re so young! DO NOT go into debt! Go to school part time for business administration and work full time. With that degree you can get a really good job with lots of advancement.
