I recently had a phone interview with a large health insurance. I received an email that I was not being moved forward in the position. I replied back for specifics as to why so I can either correct the problem to improve my odds or make an decision to apply or not. I don't believe that is too much to ask. Their response was that they cannot provide specifics. I responded that I need specifics so I don't waste both our time applying.

Hi Barbara. The insurance company is probably attempting to protect itself legally by making it a policy not to share those details. They're an insurance company, so I would expect them to be cautious about the risks of being critical (even if it's helpful) to interviewees. My advice would just be to move on with your job search. Make sure you comb through your resumé to see if there are any easily recognizable mistakes or typos. Find some common interview questions and practice them with a friend or family member and keep your energy up for the next opportunity. I know you can do it!
