I apply for at least 20-30 jobs a day for months on Indeed. I have extensive experience and a good resume, however I never get one response, and I get emails from Indeed we want you to apply for this role etc. I also get emails from Indeed that the “employer” hasn’t even opened or looked at the resume. Either they are posting fake jobs to support the pump of the jobs numbers or they don’t even have a connection with the employer. Why would they not even open or view the application/resume.

yeah that's how job seeking works these days. Often times HR reps don't even see your applications because they get filtered out by a computer.

A few tips that worked got me (sorry if they are redundant)

  1. Customize resume according to the job description. Find the key works in the job description and it in your resume. Most companies use an applicant tracking system (ATS) that scans your resume for certain words. Many resumes get rejected before a human actually see it.
  2. Make sure resume is formatted accurately. You might find it a good investment to hire resume writter. The are alot of reasonably priced writers. I would highly recommend the one that I used.
  3. Apply directly to the company.
  4. Send a letter of interest to the hiring individual.

I felt that way with career builder before but now I apply in indeed, LinkedIn, jobcase, ihireengineers, and their own websites of some companies, etc. Got only 4 interviews so far, no offers yet, but the ball is rolling.

Key: Show on your resume what you can do and have done previously, not just what you know.

Also, cover letters help.

Finally, persistence... YOU want the job. Indeed is a website, you the Human want the job.
