Are you equipped?

With #Coronavirus forcing many of us to stay at home, work from home jobs may be an option you are seriously considering. So, how do you do it? What do you need to actually work from home?

Most remote job descriptions outline what is needed, but in general you can be prepared for #workfromhome with the following supplies:

1. Computer - Consider a machine with Windows operating system. There are companies that allow you to use a PC or a Mac, but many remote customer service and transcription jobs require Windows (PC). Pay close attention to the computer requirements in the posting.

2. High-speed Internet - usually between 3-5 Mbps. To check the speed of your connection by clicking here when you are connected to your internet.

3. Dedicated Land Line - while this is not always true, many customer service and sales jobs require landlines. If you don’t have a landline and don’t want to get one, make sure you are looking for jobs that do not have this requirement.

4. Boundaries - set up a workspace. Communicate with family members and set expectations during your working hours/time. If you can’t physically separate your workspace, considering using visual cues. For example, a green cup on my desk means I can be interrupted or don’t need quiet, but a red cup means I can’t be interrupted and I require quiet.

*5. Accessories (headset, printer/scanner, webcam) *- These will help to make working at home more productive and comfortable, but are not alway required (check job postings).

Thankss Mr. Huang. Lol im actually trying to get extra internet service. Some phone companies are not compliant with current State and Government; extention service procedures. So im kind of in the middle. Yet I will keep looking for work.

I have been a dental hygienist for more than forty years and still temp when called. Right at this time, no dental offices are working except emergency patients. No office allowing hygienists to work. We got notices from Ga Board of Dentistry as what we could and could not do.

When this virus is over, I will be called again. I hate not being able to be on call.
