Depressed

I'm an 18 year old girl with a disabled mom and two younger brothers. So of course that means its time to go out and get a job. Its so devastating when you put out applications and attend many interviews and still no luck. I'm not sure if its something I'm doing wrong but why is this so hard? Gosh we definitely need another income and it doesn't seem like employers care about that. I'm not going to give up though.

Hi. Don't give up there is a world of possibilities out there for you. First, I found it is best figure out what interests, short-term goals, long-term goals are...what do you want in a job/career? Make a plan and goals why.. There are school counselors can help you... Opportunities to work, volunteer, internships, available at schools, churches, community agencies, fire company and hospitals, and political internships, and government and non-profits that may lead potential career opportunities. I received Federal work study while I attended both college and University at that $10 an hour and some jobs that college or University help you get in your field of study... I also volunteer and substituted at school this really helped me when I was raising my daughter and work in School System. Perhaps, you can check out substitute positions at brother's school or work from home...daycare at home where help your mom out too...there are ways take courses online so can help be there at home to help out your disabled mom...discuss options with counselor and mom what best in helping meet your goals there are grants, scholarships, volunteer and paid internships depending on career path you choose.... There are also support groups for depression and services you can utilize if you or family members need. Wishing you the very best...remember there are many possibilities... Liz

Can't force an employer to hire you. You are not alone in your situation. Many people are without income and it can be discouraging. Keep applying and get with the way of life.
