Just had a weird interview last Thursday. I usually get along with people but I really didn't vibe well with this manager. He constantly cut me off in the middle of answering question. He would go on and on about how much he's accomplished and I'll learn so much from taking his lead. I was glad the interview was over and almost positive that there will not be any follow up. But they called me back yesterday to discuss an offer. The pay is better than my current job but I'm seriously concerned how I can perform well under that manager. I also did some research asking other contacts who worked with that manager and everyone said it is a horrible workplace. Is there any point to negotiate or should I just turn down the offer?

I agree with the comments in here. This is just a look into what day to day will be with this person. Not a good look!

That's is 'style'. Honestly ask yourself if you can work with it. Then listen to yourself.

Do not take it. People don’t leave bad jobs, they leave bad managers. It’s a nightmare

It seems there are a lot of horrible workplaces. Some things never change.

If you are considering turning it down, you might suggest a face to face with this manager that you are concerned with. Tell him prior to excepting the opportunity you have some additional things to discuss and you would like to do them in person. Then when you have your face to face meeting, tell the manager about your concerns, but be sure to also let him/her know that you believe in being honest and just want to be sure that you can both work together. Air your concerns in a professional way. If this does not bring positive results then turning it down will be the best decision. I did this once with a supervisor shortly after starting a job. It turned out to be one of my best decisions. After that he respected me for being honest and professional and it turned out to be a great work relationship.

Never judge based on what others said bec everyone is unique. Go ahead after all if it doesn't work for you, u would have gained experience. The one who risks nothing has nothing

Stay away. It’s like the old saying “believe someone when they tell you who they are!” Your intuition and the reviews should tell you to stay away.
