In Shock...

Last week I had the best interview of my life. After the interview was over they brought me in to HR for an orientation packet, they photo copied my id and I was asked where I was salary wise. Before I finished the packet, the HR person had to go and said to bring it home with me. The person I interviewed with, said everything would be alright and to give her a call on Wednesday. Again, the HR person said don't worry nothing is wrong, I am just pressed for time. At that time I asked the HR person, should I be worried I did not get the position and she said no, there is nothing to worry about, it is the end of the day and people were waiting to come into her office. As instructed on Wednesday I called and I was asked to call back tomorrow. I called back today and guess what, I was told I did not get the job. I was a bit taken back and asked, is it something I said or did. She replied no, we are interested in someone else. What does that mean? I am perplexed, how do you go from getting the job to no we want someone else?

We need to over-haul our department of labor and get our lazy politicians to every once in a while look at what agencies we have, what needs to be over-hauled, or eliminated. I have seen , have heard too many violations from employers who seem to think that it's not what you need, but what they want. It used to be a mutual understanding when you went to work for some one , we need this, and we give you these. Not anymore, it's take it or leave it. I see a lot of wrongful terminations , or some one who got fired for having his appendix ,and another whose dad died and he had to go to funeral. No regulation or enforcement of it. I say, stand tall, stand proud. If you didn't get the job, maybe someone is looking out for you. I recommend, before you go to an interview, do some research on that employer, 9 times out of 10- you will find all kinds of pro and cons on these employers. So , take the time to invest in your future.

What all information did you give them to photocopy? And did you sign a conditional job offer?

Are you an older person? Lots of agism these days...Or maybe they already had someone in mind and interviews were just a formality. I’m sorry you went through this.

sorry to hear that, i guess it's a regular thing because i also have been on the end of that stick, i was told that "you have a very impressive resume and we look for candidates like you" and then later find out that i didnt make the cut, so i know how you feel. My best advice is to just continue applying for what it is you want and be positive, Sometimes our disappointments turn into a blooming blessing
