So I got home and my garage door would not open. I parked in the driveway and my motion sensor light didn't come on letting me know my power must be down.
I walked to the front door and keyed myself in. A few steps into my home, I dropped my keys. With the lights still out, I fumbled around kicking the ground and feeling around the floor for my keys. No luck.
It was then I realized the street light was shining bright in the window. So I decided to go outside and look in the light.
While looking under the street light my neighbor who is super-cool started to help me. After a while, he asked, "So, Jason where exactly did you drop your keys?" I said inside my home. With a little annoyance, he said "so you mean to tell me you are looking out here for what is inside?"
This story seems silly, but isn't this what we do. We search the world outside for the keys to life that exists within us just becuase the inner search is dark and can be daunting.
How much longer will you ignore all the advice telling you to change aspects of yourself that are internal? Confidence, self-esteem, effort, consistency, positive outlook. We will see a successful person and ask what they do instead of exploring who they are.
You are your success, you can change your situation and circumstance from within yourself.
Real-World Application------ Sometimes we have pre-programmed reactions that cloud our vision and make us react poorly to situations that could be opportunities with the right outlook.
Action Step - Try today to notice a default reaction you have. Instead of going with the first feeling you have about a topic try to uncover the belief. Then ask two questions why do I react like this and does it help me get results.
For example, If you read posts on here that offer advice and inside you get annoyed upon the suggestions, you can notice that feeling and ask... "Why does a stranger's attempt to help get under my skin? Then explore if the way you feel helps you reach your goals, since you are the only one feeling that way.
When you see a job posting and immediately think "not with my luck" because of (insert limiting belief). Does it help you get results or just help you avoid paths that could lead to greater things. Open your self up and embrace being "The Hero Of Your Story!"
