People Experience Advocate | Customer Service Guru

I spent five wonderful years at Amazon, and I truly cherish the experience. I gained valuable insights into business and human resources, and it even inspired me to return to college to earn my degree. I have no regrets about my time there, and if I hadn't needed to move back home, I would still be enjoying my role at Amazon.

Raised on retail, former entertainment assistant, seeking new opportunities

I took a job working for a small media company, and it was quite an ordeal! I absolutely needed the money, and the job market was very slow. It was really my only option. Unfortunately, the workplace culture was depressing, the pay was exceptionally low, and there were no benefits. I was there for 6 months before I finally got a better job.

Yes, more than once. For example, I tried substitute teaching for almost two years. There were some pros and cons. The pros were developing new skills and experiences, flexible schedule, weekly pay, could choose the assignments. The cons were I wasn't really into public school teaching, handling other people's children in a classroom, and sometimes there's no way to predict if the students were difficult; although I would sometimes evaluate the public schools' locations and demographics in those areas to try to predict if the schools might have classes with difficult students. Another con was that the staffing agency would always side with the public schools no matter what, since they were clients.
