There is no specific time limit for posting a resume. It's a good idea to keep it updated and active to increase your visibility to potential employers. You can also explore job search platforms like Jobcase, Indeed, LinkedIn, and Glassdoor to maximize your job search opportunities.

How to I build a resume when I have specialties in 3-4 separate areas. Deep understanding, schooling and experience. e.g. I was a teacher and administrator for a decade. Education was at U of M honors college, Michigan State B.A. and almost MFA with all requirements, but didn’t want to pay for it. Also went to Arizona State for Literacy, Linguistics, Communications to understand multilingualism and diverse cultures in classroom settings. M.Ed. at ASU. I was doing research since age 16 when I won a chemistry event for my research project on water pollution. I did research at U of M for Honors, of course, and was invited aboard the professors’ team to engage with them on their work as the only student. Completed research study at ASU with honors. Then, went to Stanford and received an M.A. in Educational Linguistics. I specialized in digital literacy - literacy of children’s and young adults’ interactions online. I completed my doctoral studies in this area as well, covering many disciplined to cover the multimodal aspects of online interactive media. I designed video games at Electronic Arts and studied students’ literacy with various elements of game play and other media. THEN, I shifted gears to strengthen my direction further. I was accepted into a second doctoral program, Learning Sciences Technology Design - the first program of its kind anywhere in the world. Our cohort of ten were the guinea pigs. But again, I leveraged that looseness of the program to fit my study goal needs. I studied cognitive science and innovation and creativity; I studied film, Writing, Dance, Virtual Reality and Video Games; I drifted over to engineering and was a TA for the beginning course in Product Design Engineering in the Mechanical Engineering Department. I immersed myself in product design and business entrepreneurship and the entire design process as a founding staff member of Stanford’s Design School, affectionately known as “the d.school.” I helped organize, run, and produce a feature length documentary film on several week-long, campus-wide, design innovation challenges with students working in teams. One year they had to create value from post-it notes as the design challenge. So I also became a Director of programs, ranging from Tech Design Masters Program at Stanford, to the Stanford Education Summer Honors College. I also taught the Honors College and directed and guided the students’ with their research projects throughout the year. I became well-versed in tutoring research and writing and editing. I participated in group research papers during the year, while also conducting my own research studies year after year, making me a very seasoned researcher over the years - so much that I was asked to co-teach the doctoral qualitative research methods course. “Researcher” is another hat to add to “k-12 instructor and administrator,” “Linguist,” “Learning Scientist,” “Director of university programs and Stanford instructor,” “Film maker,” “Photographer,” “Product Design Engineer” “Video Game Designer,” “Project Manager,” and “Product Manager.” “Visual language architect” upon graduation from stanford at a publishing company in D.C. I created visual reference guides for soldiers in Afghanistan to quickly identify IEDs. I found the best form factor material to withstand the climate conditions, made the visuals clear and bold with very little content text. I also created guides for individuals with no or low literacy to understand when to take their HIV medications.
And now? I am in my hometown where I can only do remote work. So after a long absence from work - over a decade - I’m creating my own work by using my writing skills to be a “Writer” of books and to dive back into design. I currently am taking certification classes to refresh my understanding of latest tools used in UX and UI design as well as product management, and data science, and AI. I’m reconnecting with a friend to better utilize VR and AI in upcoming projects.
If I decide, eventually, to do my own company, I’ll study Cybersecurity and IT infrastructure more carefully. But in the meantime, while doing these tasks, I need part-time flexible job hours for income in a remote working from home capacity. I am limited in my hours.
So, as you can see, how does one build a resume around that? It is difficult. I will give it a go, but does it have to be one page?
