Assembly Line Worker at Northstar

Been at a company for 2 months. I have been having issues with another male colleague who cant seem to take no for an answer to his advancements. He escalates and touches me inappropriately and I alert my supervisor a bout it. They suspended us both, monday it will be a week till further notice pending investigation into the allegations. There idea of investigating it is to alert everyone of what happened. Even if I come back to the plant, those that this guy was friends with will make my life unbearable. It really makes me feel like I should have just kept my mouth shut, atleast then I'd still have a job.

Update: I have a lawyer, they have filed all the necessary paperwork. I have returned to work but so has my attacker. Everyone shuns me and the management is hugging and welcoming the guy back. He gets away with it. It isnt the first time he has skated justice either. So I'm looking for another job.

Well on your update there's something called pattern of behavior. It has not been used much but it's a very important phrase. Now if at all possible see if you can find other victims. While it would be your lawyer's job to do it be very helpful to you and your case. That doesn't mean walk around and talk stay vidulant and inform your lawyer they maybe others and hope they have filed something somewhere. Good luck and God bless.

File a complaint with federal and state EEO offices, and maybe get an EEO lawyer Perhaps get an EEO lawyer in your area, or mention to the HR policy people that you may be getting one soon.

Also, file a formal complaint with the federal EEO and review the process here at this website: https://www.eeoc.gov/eeoc/publications/fedprocess.cfm

Also, get with your state EEO office to look into this situation.

Work from Home - Remote

Giavanna, I worked in the oil industry for 30 years as a Manager. A Supervisor/Mgr. is required by law to report the incident to Human Resources and an investigation as to what happened will be required. I'd also file a report with the police for sexual harassment. I worked for 3 major oil companies, and I can tell you, sexual harassment was not tolerated in the workplace. Don't let this low class trash get away with it. If your work doesn't do anything about it, I'd be looking to file a lawsuit against them. Just my humble opinion.

Contact metoo movement, file a police report, get a lawyer and file an EEOC that's sexual harassment. I wish I were close I'd help you with the process. You can sue him and your job. Get theraphy because that's trauma!

In all cases document every situation and details. A notebook of facts is the best to protect you. In some states it is illegal to video or audio unless other parties know that. Some do not require that. I was working with a blended family and I advised them to send an email and get a confirmation that the other party received it. Fed ex even. Basically it said your actions are not helping the situation and according to my resources it is actionable. Keep in mind I am documenting with notes and when possible audio and video. Once notified and receipt acknowledged. Go forward.

I would have notified the police and press charges. He assaulted you. He was in the wrong. If you get harassed after going back, bring it the head of that establishment. Or even to the labor board

That's so messed up. That happened to a woman I used to work with and she was an excellent worker but they ended up firing her I think because this guy's wife works in corporate. In any case you should be able to report it and it shouldn't be anybody else's business.

I am in management and it is illegal for you to be punished for reporting sexual harassment. You can and should sue both the supervisor and company.

Unfortunately standing up for yourself, while always essential, can have unwanted consequences. I was working at a start-up with one new HR person. My boss took me into a room and yelled at me and belittled me for two hours (with 4 witnesses hearing it). When a related incident came up in a meeting with HR, him and his boss, I told him that he could never speak to me like that again and it was abusive. HR told me it was a "he said, she said thing", there was "a loss of supervisor/employee trust" and his boss asked me if it was ALL abusive. After all of that, I was let go.
