Know thy self. When you knw who you are, you will get better jobs. If you are a follower then look for jobs that you can be a part of a team. But if you are a leader you for opportunities that let you lead. I make a better boss. And if you are lacking certain things in your life. Get a job that fills that need. I worked in the hotel business from waitress to AR Clerk with my own. At 22 years old I was calling the shots to major accounts. Have more than one set of skills. Never limit your self but be passionate about whatever you decide to do.

From personal experience, my best advice is persistence! I’ve never gotten a job without following up several times. My last job lasted 16 years, and I made no less than 5 follow-up phone calls.

Start a long term investment plan and forget about the workplace. They’re just gonna use you for 30 or 40 years and then it will be to late. Investment in ETF’s like the S&P 500 or the Vanguard Total Market Index or individual well established companies call “ Blue Chip stocks. Stay invested through good and bad markets and don’t listen to the news. DO NOT DEPEND ON ANY EMPLOYER for your long term security, they can get rid of you on a moment’s notice. I retired independently wealthy using this strategy. If you have the determination and the wherewithal to do this you will break free from being imprisoned by any employer.

The way the job starts is the way it will be in the entire future on that job. Beginnings tell the future. Do not hang around thinking it will get better. Start looking for the next job while you keep working the job you intend to quit.

Your job is not what is written in your job description. Your real job is to help your boss accomplish the things that are important to him/her.
