“If your manager was upset that you had not completed a task, but it was outside of your normal role and no one had communicated that you needed to take care of it, how would you handle the situation?”
I would be clear to communicate that I was not made aware that I had not been informed of my responsibility for this task. I would recommend that we develop a policy or S.O. P. to follow in order to have a better communication and follow up process to assign and complete tasks. I would ask if I could be part of the development team for this S.O.P.
I would tell him that this is not with in my job duties however I will take care of it
I understand that you are frustrated because the assignment was not performed. I'd like to explain that it wasn't mentioned to me and is outside of my typical responsibilities. However, I'm willing to help get it done today. Could we establish an additional defined method for assigning and communicating such duties in the future? This will ensure that I am aware and can prioritize accordingly.
I am so sorry. I was unaware that I was supposed to do this task but I am willing to do whatever you need me to do and I will start right now.
Just try your best to get your jobs done
I would simply ask, why was I not informed you need it. I will do it right away.
Because I am a part of the team, I would go and complete the task.
I am so sorry about what just happened. I apologize. I didn't know it needed an immediate attention. Please forgive me.
I’ll get it done no questions ask
"I apologize. I was unaware this task needed to be done, I will get started on it now"
