Being a woman in a male-dominated industry can be tough. Only 6% of commercial drivers are female. I've been a driver for over five years and have faced my fair share of sexist comments, but this weekend was a damn tipping point!
I was at a weigh station and was asked to back into a different area while I waited. When I went to back the rig, I heard the guy in the truck next to me blurt out to his buddy Why do women find the need to keep up with... see more
If you think you nailed that interview or the recruiter said,
Keep in touch, don't just sit and wait for the phone to ring with a job offer. Instead, be proactive. There are things you should do after a job interview that can increase the odds of getting a second interview or landing a job offer.

I have heard over and over again that it is illegal to demand that a person give their age when applying for a position, and I would like to know once and for all what the truth is on that subject. If it is illegal to ask someone how old they are (birth date, etc.) then why is it a part of every application and hiring process??? I am 39 years old and have already started experiencing what I believe to be discrimination based on age. Please does... see more
I feel like I’m being punished for being a single parent. Employers do not work with you when it comes to your children! I have been denied jobs because I have to work days in order to get to my daughter. It’s just not okay! I’m discouraged at this point. I went to school and received my degree for nothing apparently! I just don’t know what to do at this point I am afraid that I won’t be able to pay bills.....

Discrimination at its finest, especially if you didn't get the job
Question… are employers allowed (legally) to ask directly or indirectly about an applicants age on the application?
If yes, what’s the reasoning? Also, would you recommend any strategies to overcome age(ism) recruiting?
Your feedback and professional advice around this very concerning issue is greatly... see more
I was sexually harassed by my male co-worker of Indian descent and got promoted within the company. I also cannot file for unemployment and also the company is giving me bad references. What can I do?
I have applied for many positions in this field in San Francisco where i reside and can't get the job to save my life. I have applied at various places live Target and Best Buy. never hear from them after i apply. i follow up. I call. never return calls or apply. Why do they do that to people who are dedicated hard working and show up on time everyday for work like me. I'm starting to think that they only hire Caucasian Americans for these... see more
I took a job at an optometrist office a couple years ago and was the only male employee. I thought this would be a great opportunity to learn some new skills and I enjoy working with the public overall. Within two months it turned into a nightmare. One of the girls Facebook stalked me and found out that I had several gay friends and that one is HIV+. She proceeded to tell everyone in the office that I was gay and I myself was HIV+, neither of... see more
