Artificial Intelligence Changes Employment

We have been hearing a lot about Artificial Intelligence over the past several years. Some experts predict that AI will eliminate half of all jobs that require humans. Yet, others say that we have nothing to fear, because AI may rid many jobs, but it will also create new employment opportunities.

According to a new Brookings Institution report, robots aren’t replacing everyone, but a quarter of U.S... see more

Sometimes an interviewer will make an off-color comment or joke that really tips us off about what they think about us. When Shelly was interviewing for a Lab Technician position, her interviewer dropped a comment on her that set her alarm bells ringing! Shelly says:

She kept telling me that their is a lot of walking with the job. I said Okay. As I was walking back to the trailer with her she made a comment You know as you age your body slows... see more

Tell that to these Companies today and see what they say?.

I don’t care that I’m 68 years old…..I'm like a fine wine! I get BETTER with age!! I believe I was facing age discrimination in my job search for the last year or so until I realized that I was half the problem!

I wasn’t staying positive and coming to interviews prepared to show them that I am just as able to complete the job as someone half my age. One tip I do have that I would like to share with you all is to UPDATE YOUR RESUME!

I have been a recruiter for 20 years+. Here is what happens to a submitted resume:
1) If you are given a persons email to submit a resume it will go to that persons email. Now you have their email address and can follow up with your resume.
2) You send it to an HR inbox. This is where it gets tricky- in this case they are in most cases using a resume software key-word search to search your resume. It will tally how many times key words from their... see more

It may seem very out dated, but how you respond & send emails says a lot. When responding to emails from a prospective job it is best to remember that the email is their first impression.
Make sure to check spelling, grammar and punctuation; you will be a face of their company that the public sees. You want them to see you as an asset and not a liability.
I know when I am driving to work & see a company's vehicle I judge the company by how the... see more

If you attended the Age Strong Job Fair this weekend then this is the post for you!

Now that the fair is over, it's time to follow up.

Doing so lets the employer know you are serious, reminds them of who you are (they met a TON of people), your qualifications, and keeps the hiring process moving along.

So let’s take a look at how following up works...

•When-
Send your follow up at least 1-2 business days after the event.

•Who-

I tend to often run into the statement that goes something like,
That's just who I am or that's just how I am.

As an advocate of personal and spiritual growth, it makes me cringe because I know the person who said it has given up on life. My point is we are born clean slates with infinite possibilities. Somewhere on the journey some of us choose to plant a flag and attempt to stay in that place forever. They'll avoid change... see more
