I was termed from job of almost 16 years for making 2 corrected mistakes. The union begged for the company to "just give me something" and that's exactly what they did. Offered me a job in housekeeping making $20000 less because of tips. What ever happened to loyalty? What ever happened to unions fighting for your jobs? I feel like a housewife that husband asked for a divorce cause he wants to move in his younger girlfriend but tells the wife she can stay in the house and be their maid. A new job can't come fast enough!
I worked at a company 23 years and was terminated because I was accused of sending another employee a threatening E-Mail. When I was accused of this incident I immediately contacted Yahoo because I didn't send the E-Mail and I wanted to know who sent the note. Yahoo stated at the time that they were unable to let such information unless I was law enforcement or government. I stated it was to keep my job that I had been on for 23 years . They told me their hands are tied they couldn't do anything. I told my Union about it and the sat on it for 6 months until the Company came down and said I'm not able to set foot on any property or talk with any employee. My sister worked there for 19 years and was terminated a year later. I find out in December of 2016 that my yahoo Email had been hacked by a company employee. It was the cousin of the alleged person who received the E-Mail. The Firing Manager was the nephew of the person who received the E-Mail. Should I hire an Attorney and present all evidence I have and go after the company?

This is a pretty big company I'm looking at, and one of the jobs I'm interested in is listed as "this is a union position". What does this mean?

I worked for Giant Eagle for 11 years, the last few as a manager. One day I had a terrible doctor's appointment just before work and was crying on the way. I should have called in late or called off, but I went in anyway. I worked for a few minutes and being that my department is right next to the cafeteria I went to the cafeteria to calm down for a moment but did not clock out. Next thing I knew I was suspended for "stealing time". I had no idea if I would get my job back or how long it would be. I did not get a warning of any type and even heard the human resource manager say "That was easy." and " If that doesn't work I have her for making change out of her drawer." (I put a dollar in and took out 4 quarters) I even heard the manager shush her. I was given a union rep that did not know me and I did not know. First thing he asks is would your manager back you up? When I said I doubt it I never heard from him. Upon arriving to the grievance my manager was there talking with the judge. No matter that I brought the department to #1 out of 30 something stores for 3 holidays, or came in on my days off to fix major problems. I was hushed immediately and told "It isn't about your work ethic, it is about the 15 minutes." I watched my job slip away as my union rep said "They think you are lying and they think you are telling them what they want to hear." I was made out to be the worst person ever and that I knew just what I was doing and my poor manager just didn't have a choice. I used to stand up for the union. It is unreal how fast they can turn on you if they want you out!!!
I’ve been working as a teacher in a public school for the past year. When I signed on, the lady interviewing me assured me that though the starting pay seemed low there would be a pay increase “very soon, any week now.” Well it’s been more than a couple weeks, it’s been about 52! She says there is nothing she can do because it is up to the union to negotiate the contract… Has this happened to anyone else? It seems unfair to promise a raise and then never get one.
