My advice was be sure you know what the job was all about. ,Then if it was a job they were interested in and ready to work hard, be willing and able to work with everyone on our crew and you will do great. Oh, and show up for your interview dressed properly. Hope that was OK considering I had no clue what the question about.
I have been doing career coaching for many years. Just finished creating a 4 part series for people at my company that are being impacted by an acquisition and will be in the job market soon. There are a lot of resume trends people are not aware of:
1. DO Not put more than 10-15 years of work experience if you have it.
2. DO NOT put the year you graduated from any school...college or high school.
3. Do not put your birth year in your email…
I thought my interview went well, the. HR lady made a excuse and left the room, the hiring manager then proceeded to ask me inappropriate questions such as when I was gonna to retire! I am 52 and have 15 years yet. Followed by more age based questions. HR lady came back and he shut right up, like it was planned. After the interview there was a “test” where you put a spring in a hole and put a couple pieces in he demonstrated it. There was no…
I know I am at the age that Companies won't Hire You after Your 60-90 probationary Period, because of Your age. I am not ready to retire. But that said, Temporary Agencies tend to Use Whoever they can to just bring on the pay to keep them in business. This last one, I just got an award on Wednesday, got off Friday morning, got in my Vehicle and was halfway Home, all they said was don't come back. I was told that they would clear out my locker…
Have to share this new one. I have been unemployed for the past 3 months at the age of 63. There is no way I am going to give up nor do I feel I am ready to retire. After numerous applications and interviewsI received a call yesterday. It was from n agency I registered with, after a 10 minute conversation the person on the phone asked what year I graduated high school. When I responded he immediately hung up without saying a word. I was beside…
I am semi-retired, don't want to work full time, but I still have some impressive skills that I would like to maintain. I have applied for several jobs that would be great with my skill set. Every time, I have been declined for further consideration, most often because the companies are
going in a different direction.
I am healthy, and more than able to do these jobs, but I think my age scares employers off. The kicker is that even though I have…
I moved to Cincinnati two years ago. I left a job- early retirement- to go into business here with a business partner( failure). Long story short- I have 30 plus years experience as a sociology professo, with fifteen years experience advising students. I like teaching but can’t glue enough classes together to make it work. Is there any career change consultant who might help me to expand my search? Lots if these job engines are bogus. I’m a bit…
Dont understand your question, I was forced out of my job at the height of the economic slow down of 2006, collected unemployment til it ran out and then qualified for early Social Security, never got back in workforce, had open heart surgery in 2014 and just had surgery for throat cancer! It's gone I lost 55 pounds and now want to try working again since my early retirement social security is not enough to live on. Thank you for listening!!
Want go back to work l know my body is not use to long hours on my feet.
What type of job can l do ? For PT work only anybody know?
I am retired and in my 60’s. I really would like to go back to work but have not had any success in getting hired. My age seems to be a deciding factor. Any suggestions?
Planned my retirement two years in advance. Take note. I am soooo glad I planned ahead. Lots of things to consider.
Whatcha going to do?
I am taking a year off to do volunteer work, raising money to charity and going on the speaking tour to get it.
Can you afford it?
Yup! Planted some funds specifically for year one.
What’ll you do after?
Over the years I acquired skills that fit ideally with part time work, insurance sales, consulting and tax…
