Almost Heaven, West Virginia! -( lets share some of the reasons why!)

I am so excited to be heading to West Virginia tonight. Anyone who has visited there knows it is a beautiful state (as John Denver knew in his famous song). But did you know that there are some great things happening economically? That the government, with leadership such as with Senator Manchin's office, is working really hard to promote thousands of open jobs there, recruit new industry and businesses and put Government, non-profits and for-profits together to help West Virginia working families? It's true and it's pretty exciting to see commitment like this that crosses boundaries. If you haven't checked out jobs in WV, I suggest you do.
We will be rolling out a section of Jobcase just for WV this week (and already plans under way to keep improving it as we roll into September). I'll post more about it later. But first a question:

What's your favorite thing bout West Virginia? Hopefully some West Virginians can offer some thoughts, but I welcome anyone who has visited there to share as well... #AlmostHeaven #WestVirginia #WV #share #opportunity #StrongerTogether

babysitter

My name is lilia, 17 years old, looking to babysit any child under the age of 12 in weekends only. Yes, I do have experience with children. I have been babysitting since the age of 14 (3 years). Doesn't matter how much i get paid an hour (minimum wage is perfectly fine with me).

Expand your earnings horizon? new collar?

One of the tenets of Jobcase is that we all have to drive our own career success in this new world of work (jobcasers are here to help one another do that). Good news in this #coronavirus moment is that a lot of companies are stepping forward with programs to help.
I dont believe 4-year degrees are going to be as required in the next decade as they have been in the past (in order to get a living wage or better job). Here is a good resource IBM has launched to see if you might be right for careers in IT that don't require a 4 year degree. If you think tech is interesting and thinking of how to get yourself into a new path toward higher earnings - this might be worth your time to check it out... #StrongerTogether #tech #education #newstart #opportunity

Amazon continues to dominate.

Jobcase was very busy this Sept-Dec helping thousands of Jobcasers become aware, and obtain employment at Amazon. Amazon is a great company and the team here in Cambridge that builds and improves this platform was really excited to help great Jobcasers make this connection! I thought about that as I looked at this chart that clearly shows how dominant Amazon is in online consumer spending. I am hopeful that Bezos and the management team appreciate ALL their workers that make this awesome company's success possible. I know that the people at Amazon with whom we speak everyday are really wonderful - they are great at their jobs and they seem to really care about the Jobcase members that we are introducing to them ( from which they are growing their company). And as I look at this chart, it sure appears that there success will continue. So if you are thinking about where to find a good next gig - maybe click over to our companies or jobs section and find the closest Amazon fulfillment or other center that might be near you! #amazon #opportunity #dominant
