Finally a job and I start tomorrow!!!

I’m excited to announce that I am OFFICIALLY starting a contract to perm job tomorrow. I am even more excited that I will be given the top rate of $31/hr. It’s a little less than I was making before but I am so blessed to have a job. I still have a few pending/potential offers, but unless it’s a perm position making more money, I think I’m cool.

Thank you all for your support and kind words. I will keep you posted about any job changes.

Not a fan

A lot of places are trying out self driving trucks saying it will make trucking freight safer and cheaper. Anybody who has driven a truck knows that it’s NOT that easy. What happens if a steer tire blows out?! Or if the weather is crap? Computers can’t fix everything. I honestly never liked the idea of self-driving anything. I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone. Anyone else?

I've been in the Merchant Marine all my working career, now I am at the age where I am having medical issues which prevent me from going to sea. So every time I have an interview and explain my shipboard duties and the responsibilities it seems as if they become intimidated, I also explain that my computer skills are Linux based, so what's the problem.

Hi Guy Wilson - I can't say I know all that much about Merchant Marine work, but what kind of responses are you usually getting…

Beyond Confused

I had my resume professionally redone. My Linkedin account has over 200 endorsements. I have over 25 years experience in IT, 15 of those Managing staff as little as 5 to as large as 200+. Yet, the ONLY job I can get is as a Tier 1 tech. I have watched my salary drop from over $95K per year to now $59K per year. It has been over 10 years & I STILL can't get to where I was then!

Try federal jobs. You should be. Able to make more than what you’re at right now

ghosted after a position was offered.

Opinons or suggestions: I was recently awarded an offer for a position with Parks and wildlife department in IT, after about a month of waiting for a decision, they finally made me an offer for the job based on stating I was their #1 choice. Then I was instructed to get my background check done at a 3rd party fingerprinting company. after getting a clear background check I was then waiting on my start date which should have been immediately, but…

They got information .Hope they don't us it for a scam.Hope it be better the next time.

23 Years Old- Too Little Experience 7 Years Ago, Now too Much Experience

Having had an obsession with programming related tasks since I was a small boy, I got many years of programming experience and ended up consulting for tech companies as soon as I was 16. I now work for a large corporation at 23 years old where I am now unhappy and no longer feeling secure with my career. Everything is being outsourced to India and other foreign countries to save money, and our department’s tasks and projects that I love and take…

Ok Nick I'm going to keep this response short and sweet. from what you say you are a coder??? short term for programmer. which…
