Human Services Professional

Hello I live in NYC and I have been looking for a full time job as a Counselor or Caseworker for a while now. I am even looking for part time work for the holidays. I have two children and won't be able to give them Christmas if I don't find something soon. Any help is appreciated. Ive had a rough few years looking forward to getting my life back.

Generation Citizen/Boston Debate League looking for Youth Storytellers

Stories of Grassroots Change Event Details:

The theme of the event is “Stories of Grassroots Change” and it will feature stories from Boston-area youth and other community members who have taken real action to address social problems in Boston’s neighborhoods. To participate as a storyteller, youth must be available Thursday, September 29th from 4pm-6pm and prepare a 3-5 minute story that:

· Identifies a social problem you have worked on, either as part of a class project, youth organizing group, or something else you are part of. Options include: education, transportation, food access, housing/homelessness.

· Describes one important MOMENT or EXPERIENCE in your work on this social problem. This might be:

o Something you saw or heard that made you realize that this issue was a problem.

o Something you saw or heard that made you realize that change on this social problem is possible.

o A challenge you experienced in working on this problem, and how you overcame it.

o A specific action you took that made a difference in addressing this problem.

· Includes lots of details to take the audience to your moment with you. Stories are NOT speeches that have statements or reflections, they are experiences that you bring your audience to. Show your audience what happened, don’t tell them.

Some examples of stories are HERE and HERE (note that these stories are NOT about the theme of grassroots change, but may give you a sense of how a story is different from a speech).

If you have a story to share, sign up to participate by clicking HERE and select “Storyteller Admission.” You will need to provide a short description of your story. A Generation Citizen staff member will be in touch to tell you more details and schedule a time for you to practice your story.

Julia Busch (Social Services)

Hi, I have relocated to New Orleans two years ago. After completing my Bachelors program, I am currently seeking employment in the disaster relief or family services programs. Having worked with non profit organizations as well as emergency dispatch, I am well experienced in high stress working environments. As I re-acquaint myself with my hometown, I ask for any assistance in locating businesses to apply for pertinent to my field of interest.

Thank You
