Are There Really THAT Many Better Candidates Than Me?

I'm at about 50 resumes/applications out in three months. I graduated from a top 10 university and a top 25 graduate school. Over twenty- five years experience and I'm a veteran ( I keep hearing companies want to hire vets). My graduation dates are off my resume as are the dates of my periods of employment. Yes. . . I'm in my 50's but what the HECK is going on?

Get it in Writing.

You got the job offer, you are so excited. But did you really get the job offer?

Companies that are on the up and up will always, not sometimes but always do the following:
Send you a job offer, and what is included in that letter is Critical;. Keep that letter, make copies. Hopefully, you will not need to point anything out that is not being done.

Job offers can vary but they should at a minimum have the following information.

Understanding the Job Market after 50+ and how to stay valuable.

I experienced 2 reorg during my career. The first one I was devastated because I did not realize job searching had changed. It was no longer a face to face or a call to set up an interview.

I had even tried going to college because the environment of pressing everyone to go back to school for a ba. It was madness for people over 50+ to go back to school only for credentials to be accepted back into the job market.
I started joining social…

I'm not too old.. give me a chance!

I have been out of the working class for about 8 years. Basically because my significant other took care of me and the bills. However I am wanting to get back to work. I've applied to about 25-30 jobs... No call backs. I even went to places I applied to and asked them to look at my application. I am 57 years old and have only worked in restaurants. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I am in search of a job where my skills as financial analyst, project management and other skills can be put to use. I have had difficulty getting an interview with the numerous organizations I have applied to. I am 57 years old. I am wondering if that is having an effect. Does anyone have any thoughts or advice?

Looking to make a difference

Have been in the restaurant industry now a manager of one. Think it is possible to change my profession if I am 53? Have experience in housing management, customer service for Staples Headquarters etc.....

Customer service but uts much tougher then it was. An experienced housing manager would seem to be better.

Stop making excuses!!

Think no one is hiring you because of your age? WRONG! As someone older (and wiser) myself I think a person's attitude plays a major role in the hiring process. If you go into the interview with your guard up thinking you have to prove something just because you’re older, you are going about it the wrong way. Yeah you may not look as young as the other applicants, but if you say things like “I have had over 25 years of experience in this field.”…
