A bill to raise the federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $15 an hour has cleared a legislative hurdle that sets it up for a vote by the House of Representatives. It didn't pass the House of Representatives yet.

Still frustrated....

My area is economically a low man on the totem pole. Meaning we have about 10 to 15 percent unemployment most of the time. Regardless if the economy is doing well or not. What that means for me is I can't get a decent job that would allow me to save up to move to a better work area. Where there are jobs. What jobs there are here where I live are mostly low wage retail work. So that leaves me trapped in a area I loath to death and have no way out. People in my area say I should like the low wage job I have. Basically discouraging the idea of better work, or I should like a job I am bored out of my mind with. So fed up with it all. . . . . . . #lowwage #minimumwage #KitsapCounty #KItsap #highunemployment #jobs #Fedup #tired #unemployment #Washington #WA #WashingtonState #PNW #fulltime #fulltimeemployment #wornout #lifesucks

Yes the economy is good for rich people not for the poor if the economy is so good why is there so many freaking poor people struggling in "today's good economy"?

Fed up with only be qualified for low wage work.

Despite my skills and education and talents. The only jobs I ever get or get offered it low wage minimum wage work. I am fed up with it. Tired of it. They all seem to be looking for personality archetypes over anything else here in the Puget Sound area. Like are you an extrovert or do you fit someone who has a high emotinal intelligence.

Depressed.

I wish I knew what it was like to make more then minimum wage. All I get is low wage work. People wonder why I hate having Autism. Why I loath all the debt I got into in college. It never ends. All jobs I apply for unless its a low wage job with no other applicants. I never get the position. It matters not what the job is. Or people want me to work for free.

Pay wages

Job case family I heard some mess up stuff in the state of NC the minimum pay wages will remain $ 7.25 hr why the other 48 other state minimum wages going up to $11.00 and hour what kind of junk is that how they think we going make it on that $7.25. minimum wage make no sense and it's already hard finding a job and some folks working to jobs because that's how they can make its on one income that's a shame what this world coming too.

Jennifer I totally agree, $7.25/hr is just not enough to make ends meet! I wish there were an easy solution but I'm afraid it's an uphill battle. But a battle worth having, nonetheless! Salary that breaks down to below minimum wage.

I would love to work at a particular charter school. The salary offered ia little over 17k/yr. broken down, that would result in less than my state's min wage. How is that legal?

If its a charter school and farely new they can offer u what they desire from what I know. Y don't u try to work within the college level? It might be more pay! Green dot/ charter schools r opening up in many areas and they have to budget so the pay might be low. Its so sad how teachers r under paid, yet the students they teach become lawyers, doctors, etc... My daughter at the age of 26 is a teacher and she gets a decent wage. Thank God! She has the math of a genius ( calc 2). I wanted her to become an engineer but she said mom I want to teach kids. I'm happy about her decision , yet I feel that she should be paid WELL! Blessings to all whom teach!

Yes. Personal research with an "Employment Agency" may have more interesting information and value. Just saying.

Fedup, frustrated, Depressed.

Only jobs I seem to be able to get is part time minimum wage work. Does not seem to matter what my skills are or my education or past successes. Its been that way my entire working like. I can't seem to get anything better. People around me act like I have never worked a day in my life. That the current job is my first job. Low wage work then long periods of unemployment. So tired of it.

Hi Mike--You gotta give me more to work with to make suggestions! First, smile, and be grateful for what you've got. Look through that list and see who can help you with your next step--your next contact, your resume update, etc. What kind of work are you trained for, skilled in, what are your successes?

Curious

I just have a question about minimum wage. I havent worked since our new minimum wage was set, but I'm wondering if employers are allowed to pay under minimum wage, if you're not receiving any tips or compensation? The thing that confuses me is there's a federal, state & city/ county minimum wage & I've noticed that even though our minimum wage is $12 an hour, some stores only pay between $8.50- $11 an hour, even retailers like Family Dollar. Is that legal, especially if they don't give you breaks or any benefits?

if the state minimum wage is higher than Federal, they have to pay whichever is higher... Also the number of employees make a difference in the state of Ca. if there are less than, i believe, 5, the minimum wage is lower
