My biggest mistake was not investing in a 457k plan while I was still a rookie. Looking back after almost 20 years it would have been nice to see. Even if it was 50.00 a pay it would have been really nice.

I would say that working as a CO, was exciting. Each day was different. You never knew what to expect. That's why you have to have you guards up at all time. Take nothing for granted when interacting with inmates and staff. Keep your personal life just that, personal. Otherwise, don't get upset when your business is out. DO NOT DATE WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT (STAFF NOR INMATE)

Don't do it. Unless you want problems with your spouse or significant other not enough pay and long drives and no recognition

Applying up there could never advance not good enough salary
