Inside look at online bookkeeping!

I have been a virtual bookkeeper for a year now and it’s a really great remote position.

I earned my associate degree in accounting but many people I know that are bookkeepers do not have any educational degree beyond their highschool diploma. One suggestion I have is to get certified through the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers - its good for your resume.

Businesses will hire me as a contractor to help them keep track of their spending, payroll, loans and various other payments. I work to prepare and interpret financial reports and help identify discrepancies! It keeps me busy and its nice to set my own hours.

Here’s a good resource to learn more https://learntobeabookkeeper.com/start-a-bookkeeper-business/?cookieUUID=8d42bb8b-bacd-4a43-b15f-a75ae519826f

Kathleen, I have been working in the Accounting profession for over 40 years. It is my observation that most companies put the Accounting Dept at the bottom of their priority list. That is, hiring extra help is out of the question, other depts get better raises and benefits, etc., the Accounting folks get massive overtime and nobody cares if it takes away from your family or whatever. This is particularly true in the Memphis and Mid-South area as we are dominated by family-owned businesses and small-minded people. Sad but true.
