How long do you have to work at UPS to get benefits?

To be eligible for UPS benefits, part-time employees will have to work for a minimum of 225 hours.

If you work over 225 hours and less than 400 hours in a part-time role at UPS within three months, you’ll be eligible for the following TeamstersCare benefits:

  • Hospitalization and medical care

  • Dental care

  • Vision and hearing care

  • Prescription drugs

  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

  • Behavioral health

If you work in a part-time role at UPS and work for over 400 hours within a three-month eligibility period, you’ll receive the same range of benefits and perks that full-time employees get for the same period.

UPS Tuition Assistance Program

The company believes in developing the skills of all employees, so it developed the UPS Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) to recruit and retain talented individuals.

TAP aims to further the educational development of the following types of employees in the U.S.:

  • Part-time management employees

  • Part-time union employees

  • Full-time non-union employees

Since the program began in 1999, over $187 million has been invested in tuition assistance to help 113,000 college students. In addition, UPS also invests around $300 million to develop employees’ careers within the company.

Education Assistance program for part-time employees

Part-time employees can also benefit from the education assistance program, called the Earn & Learn program, which provides tuition support on the job.

Offered in 51 locations worldwide, the program is designed to help those in UPS part-time positions develop their careers and skills.

The program offers the ability to earn between $5,250 and $25,000 per year in assistance.

Part-time employees are eligible on the day of hiring, and full benefits will be prorated if the employee started in the middle of a semester.
