Jobs that are back to hiring

As states continue to reopen in phases following the #Coronavirus, more part-time and full-time jobs are being added back to the economy. In the month of June alone, over 4.8 million jobs were added—hugely helping to offset heavy losses immediately following the pandemic. With national governmental leadership and politicians urging American’s to return to work, there will be an influx of applications as people search to find new jobs.

Many companies have even added hundreds of available positions due to increased demands in some areas, with many offering remote work or telework options for those who are high-risk or not ready to return to work. We’ve listed out key industries and open roles that are actively hiring and seeking applicants now.

Food Service workers

Most states have reached a phase where they can offer outdoor dining or indoor dining at a limited capacity. This creates a renewed demand for food service workers including: servers, line cooks, kitchen managers, bus persons, and food delivery workers. Some companies hiring include:

• Dunkin’ Donuts: In early June, Dunkin' announced that they were adding 25,000 new jobs as more of the country reopens following closings related to the coronavirus pandemic. They are also launching their "first-ever national restaurant employee recruitment advertising campaign" to help fill the positions at its franchises nationwide.

• Taco Bell: In late May, the company announced that they are looking to hire 30,000 new team members across all levels nationwide, including thousands of newly-created positions. According to a company statement, the “new positions are intended to keep the drive-thru running smoothly, to manage delivery, curb-side pickup, and mobile app orders, and to maintain industry-leading sanitation and cleanliness practices.”

• ** Uber Eats, Postmates & GrubHub:** To help meet the increased demand of people ordering in, restaurants offering limited in-person options, and social distancing measures, there has been a massive call for food delivery workers across multiple companies.

• Instacart: The grocery delivery service is still actively recruiting hundreds of thousands of gig workers to help pick up and deliver groceries for customers. Instacart said it will focus on bringing on more personal shoppers in 10 states where demand is the highest: California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia.

Retail Workers

In the last month, 739,000 jobs have been added back to the retail sector with the heaviest gains being reported in clothing stores and big-box retail stores like Wal-Mart and Target. Some highlights include:

• Wal-Mart: The nation’s largest retailer has hired over 300,000 temporary employees since March and is still accepting applications, with many hires happening the same day.

• Ace Hardware: As the world's largest hardware retail cooperative and the largest non-grocery American retail cooperative, they are seeking to hire 30,000 full-time, part-time, and seasonal workers in their stores.

• Various Grocery Stores including: Publix, Kroger, Ingles, BJ’s Wholesale, Costco Wholesale

• CVS: The company says it will use virtual job fairs and interviews to hire store associates, home delivery drivers, distribution center employees, and customer service representatives with a goal to hire 50,000 new employees.

• Lowe’s: The home improvement retailer is searching for a mix of full-time, part-time, overnight and seasonal roles. They are also offering special one-time bonuses of $300 for full-time workers and $150 for part-time workers.

Construction & Landscaping

For the months of May & June combined, the construction sector added 611,000 jobs and has been one of the first sectors to reopen, with most states including it in their Phase 1 or 2 reopening plans.

Warehouse & Factory Workers

• Amazon: The massive online retailer includes thousands of workers at its warehouses, delivery centers, and Whole Foods grocery stores, all of whom make at least $15 an hour.
• FedEx: FedEx Ground is hiring part-time and full-time individuals to load and unload packages in our fast-paced warehouse environment. Part-time employees typically work a 2-4-hour shift per day. Full-time employees work approximately two shifts per day of varying lengths.

Janitors

Possibly more important than ever before, businesses are hiring extra cleaning & janitorial staffs to help clean, sanitize, and disinfect their facilities in an effort to help prevent the spread of the #Coronavirus.

Remember, the majority of the workforce is transitioning back or making changes to their employment in order to best provide for their family. The impact on the #Coronavirus pandemic continues to send shock waves through the economy and is likely to have lasting effects. Yet during this crisis, many companies are actively hiring to fill demands and there are open jobs to be found.
