What is Pepsi?

PepsiCo has a long company history. It all began in 1893 when pharmacist Caleb Bradham created a drink he called Brad's Drink. At the time, Coca-Cola was already popular, and he wanted to make something unique but also similar.

In 1898, the bubbly drink changed its name to Pepsi-Cola. In 1965, the Pepsi-Cola Company and Frito-Lay merged. Ever since then, the parent company has been known as PepsiCo.

The company headquarters are in New York, but there are offices and manufacturing plants around the world. PepsiCo has over 291,000 employees world wide.

What are the minimum hiring requirements?

The minimum requirements vary depending on the job. For most roles, the minimum age is 18 years old.

If the position involves driving, you'll also need a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. For some jobs, you'll be asked to take a drug test.

How do you apply for a job at Pepsi?

Want to work for PepsiCo? You’ll need to complete an online application.

To help you get it right, we’ve put together this quick and easy application guide:

1. Create an account

First, you can see what jobs are available by visiting the PepsiCo careers portal. You can search by keyword and location. If you’re interested in moving, you can also browse international career opportunities.

Once you find a position that matches your skills and experience, you can start the application process. When you find the right fit, click “apply now.” You can apply for more than one position.

You’ll need to create a free account. The form asks for your email address, password, and security questions. Make sure you choose an email address that you regularly check so you don’t miss any job updates.

You’ll also need to agree to the privacy policy before you can proceed.

2. Start your application

Now, it’s time to start your application. There’ll be a few details on the first page, including the job title you’re applying for.

You’ll be given an estimated completion time. For example, it could be “9–11 minutes.” This is just a rough guide, and some applications will take longer than others, depending on specific job requirements.

If you don’t have time to complete the application straight away, you can save it for later. Remember, jobs can be filled quickly, so you shouldn’t wait too long.

3. Add your personal details

The next step is fairly straightforward. You’ll need to add a few personal details.

PepsiCo asks for your first and last name. Plus, you’ll need to provide a valid postal address and zip code.

Add your home or mobile phone number and check your email address. Make sure your email address is professional.

For example, [email protected] or [email protected] are suitable for job applications.

Try to avoid email addresses that use slang, humor, or offensive language.

Remember to double-check the accuracy of these details. If someone wants to contact you about your application, you don’t want to miss their call or email.

4. Include your history

This section is all about your history and experience.

It starts with education. You’ll need to include your school name, graduation year, major, degree name, and GPA (grade point average). You can add multiple degrees if you have them.

Next is your work history. Add details of your work history, starting with your most recent position and working your way backward.

You’ll have to include the company name, your job title, the start year, and your responsibilities.

Focus on duties that are relevant to the job you’re applying for. For example, if you’re applying for a role in the warehouse, highlight your computer skills or forklift driving experience.

There’s also a section that covers skills. You can choose up to fifty from a preselected list.

5. Upload your files

A well-written resume and cover letter can make your job application stand out. You can now upload your cover letter and resume.

You should always tailor your resume and cover letter for the position. If you read the job description carefully, you’ll be able to match your skills to the role.

You can use one of our free cover letter templates to create a cover letter any hiring manager would like. We also have these resume examples for different industry types.

6. Answer a few questions

Toward the end of the process, you’ll be asked a few additional questions.

As mentioned, the minimum age to work at PepsiCo is 18, so you’ll need to confirm you meet this requirement.

You’ll need to verify that the information you’ve given them is accurate. It’s important to be honest in your application. Otherwise, it could backfire. Employers often check work history and education before offering someone a job.

The company wants to know if you’re eligible to work in the United States. If you need visa sponsorship, you’ll need to flag it in this section.

You should also mention if you know any existing employees and if you’ve ever worked for PepsiCo before.

Finally, you’ll need to tell them if you’re willing to relocate for the right position.

7. Complete the optional forms

There's a section for optional forms. These are voluntary, and sharing your answers won’t have an impact on your application.

Employers aren’t allowed to discriminate based on sex, race, color, religion, origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, age, or disability.

All information is confidential.

The first form tells them about your background. The questions you can answer include the following:

  • What is your gender?

  • Are you Hispanic or Latino?

  • What is your race?

  • What is your national origin?

If you don’t want to answer these questions, you can select “choose not to identify.”

When you hit next, you’ll be able to complete a voluntary veteran self-identification form.

8. Declare a disability

PepsiCo also asks you to declare any disabilities. Once again, this is voluntary, but supplying this information won’t have a negative impact on your application.

Your disability isn’t something you need to hide. The company is an equal opportunity employer, and it won the first Department of Labor Excellence in Disability Inclusion Award in 2019.

Workplace accommodations may also be available.

9. Review your application

During the final stage, you’ll review your application.

You should look through your details and make sure they’re correct. You can ask a friend to check your application for you and make changes if you need to.

When you’re ready, click submit.

You can check your application status by logging into your PepsiCo account. The internal recruitment team will look at your application, and if they want to know more, they’ll invite you to an interview.

The processing time can vary depending on the job. It could be anywhere between one week and two months before you get a response.

What interview questions does Pepsi ask?

To help you prepare, here are some of the most common interview questions Pepsi hiring managers may ask:

  • Why do you want to work for PepsiCo?

  • How does your experience match this position?

  • What do you know about PepsiCo?

  • Why should we hire you?

  • Tell us about a time when you managed conflict in the workplace.

  • Where do you see yourself in five years?

  • Tell us about yourself.

  • Tell us about a challenge you’ve had to overcome in the workplace.

  • What’s your biggest strength/weakness?

  • Do you have any questions?

Does Pepsi conduct a background check?

Yes, here’s all the information you need to know about Pepsi’s background check policy.

How does Pepsi’s background check work?

Pepsi’s background check differs from state to state.

For example, states like California, Montana, and Texas wouldn’t even consider a crime committed seven years ago, while states like Alabama, North Dakota, and Rhode Island will look at your complete record — even if you were found not guilty.

The waiting period associated with running the background check may also differ. According to many employees across multiple review sites, Pepsi’s background check can take anywhere from a couple of days to three weeks.

Does Pepsi hire felons?

PepsiCo believes in uplifting the lives of former felons. As a result, it does hire people with a criminal record on a case-by-case basis. Whether you get the job will depend on several factors:

  • The severity of the felony.

  • The time that has passed since the conviction or completion of your sentence.

  • The nature of the job you’re applying for.

There have been multiple accounts where the company hired an employee after having a felony. However, it’s vital that you be honest about your felony during the interview process to prove rehabilitation.

If you are dishonest, or just stay silent, and they discover your history through the background check, you’ll likely be disqualified.

You should also be honest about your prior work history on your resume (even if it came from work while you were incarcerated). Here, you can sell them on the fact that you have transferable skills, such as communication, adaptability, self-learning, and more.

These skills will count in your favor since the company won’t have to spend additional money to train you for them.

Does Pepsi perform drug testing?

PepsiCo performs drug tests prior to offers of employment. In most instances, the drug test is a urine test done through a private lab — paid for by Pepsi.

Furthermore, Pepsi is allowed to ask for a drug test at any time if substance abuse is suspected or if a workplace accident occurs. If a drug test result is positive, it can lead to disciplinary action, including termination of employment.

What type of criminal convictions would make it difficult to get hired by Pepsi?

Convictions of theft could make it difficult to get a job at Pepsi since many employees are directly accountable for significant sums of money and have access to numerous products.

Additionally, convictions for DUIs (driving under the influence) can disqualify you from driving jobs. However, Pepsi does still consider individual situations.

There is a range of different jobs under Pepsi’s beloved brands, from entry-level to senior management.

If you have experience supervising teams, a job as an associate manager, shift operations manager, or analysis manager may be a good fit.

You may prefer a clerical position in administration, such as an administrative assistant or coordinator role. If you want a job in sales, go for a sales representative position.

There are jobs in merchandise, logistics, engineering, and finance.

Plus, there are design jobs and positions for machine operators. There's something for everyone, with options for part-time, full-time, and seasonal work.
