How are you holding up?

Jobcasers,

It’s hard to know where to begin. This is an overwhelming time, and no one is feeling it more than our Jobcase community, the workers who are the backbone of our country. When you build a life around honest work, a blow like a layoff, schools closing, or the loss of your extra income can make you feel powerless. I want you to know that you're not alone. And it’s our job to find ways to empower you.

A tragedy like Coronavirus shows us who we really are. It’s why we founded Jobcase, a community (now 100 million members strong) to help people with their work lives whenever they need it. Today, this community is rallying to help each other. To serve all of you, we’ve created the Coronavirus Resource Center, a place you can go each day to find out about recent work life changes.

Tell us what else you need. We’re working on better resources, job search tools, income tools and more. Our country is resilient, thanks to people like you who make it that way. Together, we’ll get through this, get back up, and come out on the other side. We always do, because we are stronger together.

I’ll see you in the community. Stay safe.

Your friend,

Fred

p.s. I know you have so many questions right now. So I’ve also pulled some of them together and provided answers right here:

Q: What’s the best way to find the help I need from other people in the Jobcase community?

A: You can find out about the topics most on your mind by following with hashtags, such as #unemployment, #motivation, #jobsearch, and other areas you’re wondering about.

Q: All I want is to work right now. What do I do?

A: Find employers who are currently hiring by updating your Jobcase profile, and apply to companies like Amazon, Walmart, Kroger, and UPS. Also, you can look at these topics – #hiringnews, #hiringevents, and #workfromhome for more.

Q: There’s a lot of information swirling about the virus. How do I know what to believe?

A: The best coronavirus resource is the source of information itself – the Center For Disease Control.

Q: How do I apply for unemployment?

A: First, know that unemployment benefits are paid for by your taxes, specifically for times like these, and the government has increased these benefits recently. CareerOneStop is a search tool that works very well in walking you through how to apply for unemployment benefits in your state.

Q: I’m lucky enough that COVID-19 isn’t impacting my work. But I really want to help others. What can I do?

A: Explore Jobcase and share your advice and encouragement with the community. That advice can make a big difference in someone’s life right now!
