The hospitality industry made me a better worker
  • Patience
  • Time management
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Multi-tasking
  • Customer relations
  • Teamwork
  • Self-motivation
  • Sales and upselling product

These are just a handful of valuable skills that I mastered as a worker in the #FoodServices industry throughout the years. Consequently, these are also skills that I use in my current job EVERY SINGLE DAY!

As many of you know, I get the pleasure of spending my days working as a Community Specialist here at Jobcase! But what you may not know is that most nights, you can find me working as a part-time bartender. 🍹🍺

I'm proud to be the first person in my family to graduate college. But, with that wonderful piece of paper comes a hefty price tag and student loans. Throughout school, the hospitality industry provided me a flexible schedule, steady income and tremendous learning opportunities.

My senior year of high school, I got a job as a busser/host. When I turned 18, I was promoted to server. With time, I worked my way through the ranks: host âžž head host âžž server âžž cocktail server âžž head wait âžž server trainer âžž bar-back âžž bartender âžž assistant bar manager!

The things I've learned at the restaurant expand so much further than cocktail recipes and menu knowledge. It's taught me how to keep calm under pressure, connect with people of all personalities, manage inventories, suggestively upsell, and stay organized while moving at lightning speed.

I am beyond grateful for my years of experience in hospitality. The transferable skills I learned over the years has made me a stronger, more confident worker in any job I have pursued.

Also, the gig is a blast! I love being able to meet dozens of new people each day and build relationships with regulars :)

Who else has worked in the service industry? What are your thoughts?
