Customer or IT Support Specialist - Average salary $45-50k/yr

Generally, a Support Specialist describes any job where an employee helps clients or customers resolve an issue they're having related to the company or brand they work for. There are two main forms of Support Specialist that don't require a four year degree.

Customer Support Specialist

A Customer Support Specialist assists customers and/or clients with issues related to a purchase they made. Customer Support Specialists would be expected to resolve issues with damaged products, returns, shipping problems and/or customer dissatisfaction. The aim of a Customer Support Specialist is to provide an acceptable resolution and ensure that customers and clients leave off with a positive impression of the brand you represent.

IT Support Specialist

Similar to a Customer Support Specialist, and IT Support Specialist solves issues for customers or clients. The only difference between these jobs is that the IT Support Specialist focuses on fixing technical issues rather than issues with a purchase or order. The goal of an IT Support Specialist is to identify a technical problem and help the customer or client resolve it.

Could this become a career?

While Customer Support Specialists do not typically require a degree or certification, IT Support Specialists should get certified to get the best opportunities, though not all IT Specialist jobs require it. Both jobs offer a wealth of opportunities and, in most positions, opportunities to advance and take on more responsibilities as you grow.
