Do I HAVE to take the job?

In an ideal world, every job would be safe, pay a lot of money, offer benefits, and suit all of our needs, but unfortunately, the world is not perfect, especially now during the #Coronavirus pandemic.
You may find yourself in the position of being offered an opportunity that may not be a perfect fit for you, but the question becomes, do you take it or leave it? Check out these tips to help you decide what to do if you’re on the fence.
What are the positives and negatives?
Time for the old list, what you like versus what you don’t! Create two columns that represent the potential positive and negative aspects of the job. As you are jotting down ideas in each column ask yourself, what will this job provide for me? What will I enjoy or find less desirable? What are some skills I could learn? How will this job help me grow in the future?
What do you know about the company?
It’s important to know who you are working for, how they will keep you safe during these unprecedented times, and also how you will be treated overall. So be sure to do a little research! Go online and search for the company’s website and reviews from past employees.
A great site to find this information is Glassdoor. Use it to discover out what are others saying! Make sure to research the company’s mission. Where are they headed and do you want to be apart of that? If you feel that you aren’t a great fit with the company or you are worried about your safety it’s ok to say no and keep looking.
What if you’re still collecting unemployment?
The decision to head back to work can be even tougher if you are still receiving unemployment benefits. However, you have to keep in mind that unemployment will eventually end and you must plan for the future! Also, if you are relying solely on your unemployment check, chances are you are responsible for your own health insurance which can be very costly should an accident occur or you become ill.
Will this job help your career grow?
It might seem silly to think about the long term goals and your future career, but as the saying goes “This too shall pass.” When the pandemic ends you will go on and so will your career and it’s important to keep it on the right track!
What does your gut say?
Before you give a definite yes or no to a job, do a gut check. Your instincts and natural intuition about whether or not a job is a good fit is usually correct!

Are they hiring any cleaners or caregivers

If you've been fired taking another position even one without a career path will take care of your short term needs. If you're on unemployment and qualify for a position and refuse most states will cancel your benefits. My wife qualified for a position in another town. We were prepared to move but couldn't find anywhere to live. Rent exceeded $1800 a month and the closest was 20 miles away. We had to refuse the position and Washington State made us pay back $1000 and cancelled benefits. So think twice.
